On January 26, 2010, a prayer meeting commemorating the 35th anniversary of SGI's founding was held at the Josei Toda International Center in Shinjuku ward, Tokyo, Japan. Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada attended the event.

In his remarks, Mr. Harada spoke about the significance of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's 2010 Peace Proposal being released also on the same day, SGI Day (January 26, 1975). He expressed his fervent desire that SGI members in 192 countries and territories throughout the world would unite to ensure that the humanistic philosophy espoused by Mr. Ikeda become universal in today's society. He encouraged those attending to each become a person who is resolved to plant "seeds of peace" in their local communities.

On the same day, a commemorative leader's meeting was held at the Soka Culture Center in Shinanomachi, Tokyo. Mr. Ikeda attended and encouraged the leaders to stand on the front lines, always staying youthful, spreading hope and laying paths of victory wherever they go.
