On January 16, 2010, SGI-Nepal youth held a general meeting at the SGI-Nepal Peace Center in Kathmandu. From January 20-23, SGI-Nepal young member's group advisor Navin Manandhar and SGI-Nepal Young Men's Group Vice Leader Rajendra Maharjan spent the week in Pokara, Nepal, approximately 150 km from Kathmandu, meeting with and encouraging local youth members.

SGI-Nepal was officially established on January 1, 1993, and held its first general meeting on November 4, 1995, welcoming SGI President Daisaku Ikeda who was visiting the country for the first time. During that same visit, on November 3, Tribhuvan University in Nepal conferred an honorary doctorate on Mr. Ikeda.

Also located in Kathmandu is the Ikeda International School, established in June 2000. The school embodies Mr. Ikeda's educational philosophy and aims to provide quality education and opportunities for children from economically disadvantaged families.
