In the months of July and August 2010, SGI-Europe held summer training sessions at the SGI European Center in Trets, southern France. Courses were held for Men's and Women's Group members from July 29 to August 2, followed by the Student Group from August 7-10. Youth Group members gathered from August 18-22. Approximately 500 participated from 24 countries.

SGI-Europe training sessions began in 1975, and 2010 marks the 35th summer of such sessions. Participants studied Buddhist concepts such as faith and the oneness of mentor and disciple, and had discussions on creating networks of peace in Europe.

SGI-Europe Chair Hideaki Takahashi and SGI-Europe Women's Chair Sakae Takahashi encouraged those attending to create their own personal victories and become embodiments of hope in their families and communities.

Throughout 2010, SGI members in Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the UK have held regular meetings where they study and discuss the writings of Nichiren and SGI President Daisaku Ikeda. In Italy and Portugal, these meetings are monthly, often led by youth members.
