On November 28, 2009, ninety-three SGI-UK young women from throughout the county and also members of the Lilac Group who provide support for local activities gathered at SGI-UK's Taplow Court Grand Culture Center.

The meeting centered on the Buddhist concept of selfless dedication. SGI-UK National Lilac Group leaders Sonia Hashmi and Tricia Wiley spoke at the event about the importance of each individual taking on challenges to uncover their full potential and develop strong self confidence. A question and answer session was held with SGI-UK Youth Divison Leader Yas Hirayama.

Lisa Cowen, SGI-UK National Young Women's Leader and Emily Proctor, also a SGI-UK National Lilac Group Leader, reported on the recent youth division training course held in Japan. The day included small group discussions during which participants shared their experience of practicing Nichiren Buddhism. On December 5, members of the SGI-UK Soka Group, the young men's counterpart group for providing support at SGI-UK events, met at Taplow Court to study one of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's essays on the correct spirit of the mentor-disciple relationship. Approximately 50 young men attended the meeting.
