Bharat (India) Soka Gakkai Members Hold General Meeting

On November 29, 2009, approximately 600 gathered for the 35th Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG) General Meeting at the Soka Bodhi Tree Garden in New Delhi, India.

East India General Area 1 chief Mr. Dipak Das spoke about the importance of building solidarity among friends and his own personal efforts to develop meaningful relationships. Several representatives shared their personal experiences of practicing Nichiren Buddhism as BSG members. Participants were treated to several musical performances. SGI President Daisaku Ikeda sent a message which was read at the meeting.

BSG Director General Naveena Reddi, BSG Women's Leader Chabi Prasad and BSG Chair Gopinath Menon offered words of encouragement. In particular, Mr. Menon spoke about the importance of leaders taking initiative to create networks of trust within their communities. The meeting ended with youth members performing the Japanese song, "Dainanko," which became meaningful for Soka Gakkai members during the time of second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda.
