SGI-Peru Appoints New General Director, Creates Executive Guidance Committee
On September 30, 2009, SGI-Peru held a leaders meeting at the SGI-Peru Culture Center in Lima, Peru. SGI General Director Yoshitaka Oba and SGI Women's Chief Kayoko Asano, both visiting from Japan, participated together with some 500 members.
During the gathering, José Juárez Salazar was newly appointed as SGI-Peru General Director. Mr. Juárez expressed his determination to cherish and nurture youth members together with SGI-Peru Women's Leader María Eugenia Fernádes Loayza.
Mr. Juárez began his practice of Nichiren Buddhism in 1969 when he was a college student. He later became a staff member at Peru Seikyo, SGI-Peru's organ publication, and has contributed to the development of the publication ever since. Mr. Juárez is currently chief editor of Peru Seikyo, as well as director of public relations and men's leader for SGI-Peru.
Also at the meeting, the Executive Guidance Committee was established, with Carlos Shima appointed as president and Guillermo Mazekina as vice president.
