SGI-Russia Commemorates 35th Anniversary of SGI President's Visit
During September 2009, SGI-Russia held general meetings in Moscow and other places throughout Russia to commemorate the 35th anniversary of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's first visit to the Soviet Union on September 8, 1974.
On September 20, 108 SGI-Russia members including representatives from far-flung regions such as Voronezh, Perm and Ufa, attended the general meeting held in Moscow. Following a performance by the SGI-Russia Brass Band, SGI-Europe Vice Chair Yoshio Nakamura and SGI-Europe Vice Women's Leader Kimiko Brummer encouraged those attending to expand their circles of trust and friendship as exemplary citizens.
On September 13, members of St. Petersburg District, which was newly established in March of this year, gathered for their first general meeting. Participants discussed the history of Mr. Ikeda's visits to Russia. Members of Nizhny Novgorod and Vladivostok Districts also gathered on September 6.
