Taiwan Soka Association Holds Study Examination
On September 6, 2009, Taiwan Soka Association (TSA) held study examinations at 31 venues throughout Taiwan for those who had previously passed entrance-level examinations. Some 4,000 candidates were tested on their knowledge and understanding of Buddhist history, the Lotus Sutra, concepts and core beliefs relating to Nichiren Buddhism and the writings of Nichiren. TSA members also learned about the history of the Soka Gakkai.
Study for Nichiren Buddhist practitioners serves to deepen their understanding of the philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism primarily so that it can be applied to their daily lives.
Lin Chao, the general director of TSA, encouraged members at exam venues to carry on the spirit of humanism expounded in Nichiren's teachings and to use it to lead lives of victory. In addition, he expressed his hope that members would work for the happiness of others and contribute to society in the best way possible.
