SGI-Canada Youth Hold Commemorative Meetings

Throughout July 2009, SGI-Canada young women celebrated the Young Women's Group founding day, July 19, 1951. The many gatherings centered around the theme "Break Through: Unlock Your Potential." SGI President Daisaku Ikeda sent a message to the SGI-Canada youth, encouraging them to uphold faith in their inherent potential and to continue advancing in their lives, regardless of the obstacles and challenges they may face. Mr. Ikeda also shared the importance of being cheerful, of studying, of engaging in heartfelt dialogue and, lastly, the importance of developing the shared commitment of mentor-disciple. Many of the meetings included small group discussions and various performances.

SGI-Canada young men also held commemorative general meetings throughout Canada during July to celebrate July 3, a significant day in the history of the Soka Gakkai that symbolizes the oneness of mentor and disciple, and July 11, 1951, founding day of the Young Men's Group. Based on a common theme, "Rise Up Heroes of Justice, Upholding the Path of Mentor and Disciple," the meetings included performances, games and members' personal experiences.
