SGI-Belgium Appoints New Youth Leaders
On May 17, 2009, SGI-Belgium members gathered to make a fresh start with new national leaders at the SGI-Belgium Culture Center in Brussels, Belgium. The organization has recently developed into a general headquarters. SGI-Belgium consists of some 50 different ethnicities and nationalities, and one third of the membership is young people. SGI-Belgium has hosted exhibitions in cooperation with SGI members in the Netherlands and Luxembourg, expanding humanistic solidarity in the Benelux countries.
New leaders were announced during the meeting, including SGI-Belgium Youth Leader Stephane Phuong and Young Men's Leader Dominique Calande. SGI-Belgium Leader Kiyoshi Shimura and new Women's Leader Roslyn Hashimoto-Cohen encouraged the participants to live victorious lives with unity and the spirit of shared commitment of mentor and disciple.
SGI-Europe Chair Hideaki Takahashi and SGI-Europe Vice Women's Leader Mieke Iwami also attended the meeting.
