SGI-UK and SGI-Portugal Hold Leaders Training Sessions
From April 17-19, 2009, SGI-UK women gathered for leaders training sessions in Coventry, UK. Studying some of Nichiren's writings and SGI President Daisaku Ikeda’s recent speeches, participants deepened their understanding of the greatness of living a life based on the shared commitment and struggles of mentor and disciple.
On May 13-16, 2009, SGI-Portugal members gathered at the SGI European Center in Trets, southern France. Participants studied the Buddhist concept of threefold transformation of the land, also discussed in Mr. Ikeda's lecture series, "The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin and the Mentor-Disciple Relationship" and youth members gave a presentation on the spirit of Buddhist practice. The gathering also included informal cultural performances and small group discussions. The participants returned to Portugal with a deeper resolve to work for the happiness of people everywhere.
