On May 3, 2009, SGI-Brazil (BSGI) held a youth culture festival at Ibirapuera Gymnasium in São Paulo. Some 20,000 BSGI youth gathered from throughout the country. BSGI's young women's Nova Era (New Age) Fife-and-Drum Corps, young men's Taiyo (Sun) Brass Band, young women's Taiga (Big River) dance group and Ikeda Philharmonic Orchestra of Humanism performed at the festival. In 1984, during SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's third visit to Brazil, BSGI had a culture festival at the same venue. SGI-Honduras members gathered in Tegucigalpa to discuss the Buddhist concept of three existences of past, present and future.
