Study Exams on Nichiren Buddhism Held in Canada and 21 Countries in Europe
On October 26, 2008, approximately 300 SGI-Canada youth sat for a study exam at 20 venues across Canada, such as Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal and Ottawa. Study materials for the young people included basic concepts of Nichiren Buddhism, the history of the Soka Gakkai and SGI President Daisaku Ikeda’s lecture on Nichiren's writing “The Heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life.” SGI-Canada youth have prepared for the exam since January 2008 in monthly study sessions, with support from more senior members. After the exam, one participant commented that the test was an opportunity to learn more about the profound Buddhist view of life and death.
On November 16, some 10,000 SGI-Europe members took Study Department entrance or elementary-level examinations in 21 countries.
