On October 12, 2008, SGI-New Zealand held an elementary-level study examination at 10 venues throughout the country. The candidates were tested in the language of their choice, either English, Japanese or Chinese. Study materials included "Reply to Sairen-bo" and "The Dragon Gate" from Nichiren's writings; basic concepts of Nichiren Buddhism; Nichiren's life; and the history of the Soka Gakkai. Examinees commented that the exam offered a wonderful opportunity to deepen their understanding of Nichiren Buddhism.
