On October 11, 2008, SGI-Slovenia members gathered together in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia in the Balkans.

In 1991, the Republic of Slovenia became independent from the former Yugoslavia. SGI-Slovenia Chapter was established in 2001. Since then, its members have shared and highlighted the humanistic philosophy of Buddhism through grassroots activities and cultural events, such as the SGI’s "World Boys and Girls Art Exhibition" in 2005.

At the meeting, participants discussed a recent speech on the teachings of Nichiren Buddhism by SGI President Daisaku together with SGI-Slovenia Chapter Leader Anita Prezelj. They resolved to develop their individual capability for the peace and prosperity of their country. SGI-East Europe Women's Advisor Tsuruko Kühn and SGI-Europe Women's Vice Chair Louise Shimizu also attended the meeting.
