Summer Gatherings Held at SGI-Nepal Peace Center

On August 23, 2008, over 75 SGI-Nepal men gathered at the SGI-Nepal Peace Center in Kathmandu. Four men travelled from Pokhara, 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu, to attend. Two members recounted how their practice of Nichiren Buddhism had positively impacted their daily lives. SGI-Nepal Men's Vice Leader Krishna Dawadee spoke about the dynamic role the mentor-disciple relationship has played and continues to play in the history and practice of Buddhism. Men's Leader Sagar Thapa emphasized the importance of putting the Buddhist concepts one has studied into practice and shared his resolve to foster more capable people towards 2030, the 100th anniversary of the Soka Gakkai's founding.

At the same venue, SGI-Nepal youth representatives gathered on July 19 for their second leaders meeting. SGI-Nepal Youth Leader Navin Manandhar called on everyone attending to take personal responsibility and create unity based on a spirit of "many in body and one in mind." Participants studied SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's lecture on "On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime," one of Nichiren's writings. SGI-Nepal General Director Sahana Shrestha and Advisor Akash Ouchi also attended.
