SGI-Dominican Republic Members Meet Throughout the Country
On July 6, 2008, some 1,000 SGI-Dominican Republic members gathered for meetings throughout the country, commemorating July 3, Day of Mentor and Disciple, as well as the month of youth. In preparing for the meetings, youth members engaged in one-on-one dialogues to expand their network of friendship.
SGI-Dominican Republic Young Men's Leader Eiji Nishio and Young Women's Leader Myoko Tamate attended a meeting at the SGI center in Santo Domingo and called on the youth present to take responsibility for advancing peace and carry on the legacy of the first three Soka Gakkai presidents. Rubén Paul Vargas, a youth member, shared his resolve to develop himself and become a leader in society. The SGI-Dominican Republic youth brass band performed. SGI-Dominican Republic General Director Takashi Nishio remarked on the significance of the month of July in Soka Gakkai's history and encouraged everyone to carry on the work of building peace in their country.
