SGI-Finland Holds Study Session

On June 7 and 8, 2008, SGI-Finland members met to study Nichiren Buddhism in Helsinki. Led by SGI-Finland Chapter Leader Marjatta Valkama and Men's Leader Kari Kilpeläinen, participants reviewed SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's lecture on "The Drum at the Gate of Thunder," one of Nichiren's writings. In addition, Youth Leader Johanna Holopainen, Young Men's Leader Marius Lönnrot and Young Women's Leader Maria Santavuori led a discussion based on Mr. Ikeda's January 2008 editorial in the Soka Gakkai's monthly study magazine in which he emphasized that fostering capable people is the foundation for all value-creation. SGI-Finland Secretary General Tatu Kuivalahti reported on the SGI training course in Japan he attended during May and shared his resolve to be victorious in his daily efforts. Also during the meeting, the Soka Gakkai's recent monthly leaders' meeting was broadcast via the Internet with Finnish subtitles for the first time.
