SGI Members Throughout the World Celebrate Soka Gakkai Day

SGI-Chile members meet in Santiago

SGI members throughout the world have commemorated May 3, Soka Gakkai Day.

In Russia, SGI members gathered on April 27, 2008, at their respective locales, including Moscow, St. Petersburg and Vladivostok. SGI-Italy held a leaders training session on May 3-4 at their center in Rome and SGI-Europe Chair Hideaki Takahashi led a study of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's lecture on "The Heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life," one of Nichiren's major writings. Some 50 SGI-Denmark members met at the SGI-Denmark Nordic Culture Center in Copenhagen on May 3 and SGI-Luxembourg held a family festival in a suburb of Luxemburg on May 4.

Over 500 SGI-Dominican Republic members gathered on May 4 in their respective cities. SGI-Dominican Republic youth fife-and-drum corps performed at the meeting in Santo Domingo. In Chile, some 400 members from 13 cities gathered on May 4 at the SGI-Chile Culture Center in Santiago. At the SGI-Korea Headquarters in Seoul, some 550 SGI-Korea representatives attended a commemorative meeting on May 2 and women and young women members presented a traditional drum performance.
