50th Anniversary of Second Soka Gakkai President's Death Commemorated
On April 2, 2008, Soka Gakkai held memorial services throughout Japan to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda (1900-58). Current Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada and General Director Masaaki Masaki attended a meeting at the Soka Gakkai Headquarters in Shinanomachi, Tokyo. SGI President Daisaku Ikeda led a prayer service at the Tokyo Makiguchi Memorial Hall, Hachioji, Tokyo. Mr. Ikeda paid tribute to his mentor Mr. Toda, who tirelessly dedicated his life to humanity's happiness based on the humanistic philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism.
