On March 16, 2008, SGI youth in Hong Kong and Macau gathered at their respective centers to commemorate the 50th anniversary of March 16, 1958, a significant day in SGI's history.

In Hong Kong, some 600 youth leaders met at the SGI-Hong Kong Culture Center. Youth Leader Ngan Sai Fong, Young Men's Leader Jeffrey Wong and Young Women's Leader Flora Kwok each shared their personal determinations to work for the sake of peace and humanity's happiness. SGI-Macau youth representatives gathered to study "On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime," one of Nichiren's writings. SGI-Macau General Director Lei Loi Tak expressed his expectations for youth to develop into capable individuals who will realize peace within their own spheres of influence.
