SGI-Europe Youth Prepare for 50th Anniversary of March 16, 1958

This year marks the 50th anniversary of March 16, 1958, a significant day in SGI's history when second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda met with 6,000 Soka Gakkai youth to bequeath to them his deeply held mission of creating lasting peace and individual happiness based on the humanistic life philosophy of Nichiren.

To commemorate the anniversary, the SGI-Europe Youth Summit, chaired by SGI-UK youth leader Yasunori Hirayama, has set a goal of 4,000 representatives from 33 European countries to gather on March 16, 2008, in Milan, Italy. Since January 2006, SGI-Europe youth have been engaging in wide-ranging dialogues to expand friendships and generate a groundswell for peace throughout Europe. At the commemorative event, an SGI-Europe Youth Declaration will be announced.
