SGI-Korea Opens Two Culture Centers and a New Hwa Kwang Shinmun Building

In April 2007, SGI-Korea opened two new culture centers, as well a new Hwa Kwan Shinmun Co., Ltd. press building, all newly constructed facilities.

The three-story Kwangyang Culture Center opened on April 15 in Kwangyang, Chollanam Province, South Korea, with 600 local SGI members attending. On April 21, the Bangeojin Culture Center officially opened in the metropolitan city of Ulsan in Gyeongsangnam Province. Among the 1,000 attendees were Dong-gu Mayor Jeong Cheon-seok, Dong-gu Council Chair Kwon Myung-Ho, Vice Chair Park Hak-Ceon, Bangeojin Elementary School Principal Kim Mi-ra and local SGI-Korea members.

On April 30 in Seoul, the new building for the Hwa Kwang Shinmun, SGI-Korea's newspaper and publication company, was officially opened. SGI General Director Yoshitaka Ohba and SGI Women's Leader Kayoko Asano, visiting from Japan, attended the ceremony together with SGI-Korea and Hwa Kwang Shinmun representatives. Hwa Kwang publishes the Hwa Kwang Shinmun, SGI-Korea's weekly newspaper with a circulation of 550,000; The Beopryeon, SGI-Korea's monthly study magazine; and Korean translations of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's writings. Hwa Kwang Shinmun President Kim Chan-Keen expressed his hopes that the company would continue to respond to readers' expectations with publications that inspire joy and hope.
