SGI-UK Representatives Attend Training Sessions at SGI European Center in Southern France
From April 1-6, 2007, SGI-UK held training sessions for various groups at the SGI European Center in Trets, southern France. Each session focused on the study of Buddhism. Participants had prepared beforehand by studying selected writings of Nichiren and SGI President Daisaku Ikeda. The men's group studied Nichiren's well-known letter "On Attaining Buddhahood in This Lifetime"; the women studied "On Prayer"; and the young women studied "The Heritage of the Ultimate Law of Life." The young men read a poem by Mr. Ikeda about the mentor-disciple relationship in which he describes his memories of his own mentor, second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda.
At a men's and women's district level leaders' training session in Trets on April 7-12, participants held workshops on leadership, what makes a good discussion meeting and how best to encourage members in the development of their Buddhist practice, beginning with engaging in one-on-one dialogues.
