SGI-Switzerland Youth Hold Commemorative Meeting
On March 11, 2007, SGI-Switzerland youth held a general meeting in Olten to commemorate March 16, 1958, when 6,000 Soka Gakkai youth met with second President Josei Toda and pledged to carry on his legacy of working for peace, prosperity and people's happiness, based on the teachings of Nichiren. One hundred fifty youth from the Italian, French and German speaking sectors of Switzerland gathered to reaffirm their commitment to help shoulder responsibility for humanity's future. During the program, each speaker's words, translated beforehand, were shown on a wide screen in the other two languages. Participants put on an impromptu show that included dances, choruses and a poetry recitation.
SGI-Switzerland youth leaders Matthias Brodbeck and Tae Takahashi called on the youth gathered to make courageous progress and lead victorious lives with the conviction that each person's positive, inner transformation will influence the happiness of society at large.
