Chinese Lunar New Year Celebrated in New Zealand and Hong Kong
On February 18, 2007, SGI-New Zealand members celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year at their culture center in Auckland with the participation of some 500 members and friends. In his greetings, SGI-New Zealand General Director Jimi Wallace called on the participants to take the initative toward creating a society that treasures diversity and harmonious coexistence. An energetic lion dance performed by men and young men was followed by a traditional classical Indian dance by SGI-New Zealand members of Indian descent.
On the same day in Hong Kong, some 20,000 SGI-Hong Kong members gathered to celebrate Lunar New Year and offered prayers for the peace and prosperity of Hong Kong and the world at large.
