Some 1,400 SGI members in the Dominican Republic gathered in Santo Domingo on February 11, 2007 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's first visit to the country. Following words by SGI-Dominican Republic General Director Takashi Nishio, the youth presented "The Dawn of a New Era," a skit introducing the history of SGI-Dominican Republic from the pioneering days to the present. The brass band and the fife-and-drum corps also performed.

Roberto Blandino, Director of Protocol and Ceremony of the Office of the President, the main guest of honor, stated that he felt reassured about the future of the country from seeing the activism of the SGI-Dominican Republic youth. He commended the SGI for fostering capable future leaders of society.
