SGI-Europe Holds Peace Summit at Trets
From January 11 through 14, 2007, some 180 SGI representatives from 28 European countries attended an SGI-Europe Peace Summit at the SGI-European Center in Trets, southern France. Activities for 2007, including a study program on Nichiren Buddhism and summer sessions at Trets were announced. SGI President Daisaku Ikeda sent a message conveying his appreciation for the European members' contributions to their communities, calling on them to advance courageously to achieve personal victories this year.
During the summit, it was announced that the former SGI-Europe Youth Committee will make a fresh start as the "SGI-Europe Youth Summit." SGI-UK Youth Division Leader Yasunori Hirayama was appointed chair of the steering committee comprising representative leaders of respective European SGI associations.
