SGI-Canada Greets the New Year
On January 1, 2007, SGI-Canada held New Year's meetings at locations across the country including the cities of Toronto, Vancouver, Halifax and Saskatoon as well as on Prince Edward Island. At the SGI-Canada Culture Center in Toronto, SGI-Canada General Director Tony Meers emphasized that each individual's personal growth and happiness is the foundation for the development of the SGI as a whole. On the same day, more than 800 gathered at the SGI-Canada Vancouver Culture Center.
SGI-Canada recently published the first issue of SOKA--Buddhist Humanism in Action, a new monthly magazine focusing on SGI members' active engagement in society and activities that manifest the philosophy of Soka, value-creation based on respect for the dignity of life. The periodical is a companion to New Century, SGI-Canada's monthly Buddhist study magazine that began publication in 1981.
