SGI representatives pray for peace
Plaque bearing Mr. Ikeda's prayer for peace

On October 31, together with SGI-USA representatives, SGI General Director Yoshitaka Ohba of Japan visited "Ground Zero," the site of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, where the former World Trade Center once stood. They offered prayers for the victims of 9/11 as well as victims of all wars and terrors around the world and their families. At a shrine bearing mementos such as uniforms, caps and badges belonging to firefighters and police officers who died on duty after the terror attacks is a plaque inscribed with a quote from SGI President Daisaku Ikeda, placed there in 2003:

To transform
days of tragedy
into days of happiness,
days of anguish
into days of peace.
