SGI-USA Members in New Orleans Hold "Victory Rally" on Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina

SGI-USA New Orleans members celebrate their "victory" over the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, one year later

On September 23, SGI-USA members in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, held a "Victory Rally," just over one year after their area was devastated by Hurricane Katrina, one of the most destructive storms in U.S. history. The City of New Orleans today is recovering and members have overcome many hardships over the course of the year. SGI representatives from Louisiana and nearby states--Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, joined New Orleans members for their gathering. A chorus, calling itself "Messengers of Peace," opened the meeting. After welcoming new members, leaders announced various reorganizations and new leader appointments. Many representatives reported on members' efforts to support one another as they recovered from the devastation, and expressed their appreciation on the encouragement and support they received from members nationwide. They reaffirmed their determination to continue to work together to lead victorious lives through their practice of Nichiren Buddhism.
