SGI-Portugal Youth Hold General Meeting

Some 180 SGI-Portugal youth gathered in Lisbon on July 30. Titled, "The Power of Youth," the meeting commemorated the 55th anniversary of the Young Women's and Young Men's Divisions. Nine representatives shared their experiences of practicing Nichiren Buddhism. Youth Division Leader Etsuko Motoki called on everyone present to spearhead a campaign to share Buddhism with 100,000 people toward the 2008 SGI-Europe General Meeting. The Student Division organized an exhibition of artwork by elementary through high school students, titled "Cherry, Plum, Peach and Damson,"--a metaphor Nichiren borrowed from earlier Buddhist teachings and used in his writings to highlight the unique qualities and beauty of each individual.
