SGI Young Women Commemorate 55th Anniversary During Summer Youth Training Session in Japan
On July 19, the 55th anniversary of the Young Women's Division (YWD), worldwide SGI young women representatives attended the first SGI Young Women's Division Leaders' Meeting at the Soka Young Women's Center in Shinanomachi, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo. Following words by Soka Gakkai Vice General Director Minoru Harada, SGI-Zambia Young Women's Leader Cynthia Bowa-Mwananyanda shared how she has applied her practice of Nichiren Buddhism and its life-affirming philosophy in her role as a doctor. SGI-Korea Young Women's Leader Lee Eun Bong reported on activities in her country. The Fuji Fife-and-Drum Corps and the Fuji Chorus presented a dynamic performance, welcoming the participants who hailed from every corner of the world. SGI YWD Chief Mitsuko Tateno called on the young women to become standard-bearers for peace in their respective countries. SGI Women's Leader Kayoko Asano addressed the group.
Earlier in the day, the summer SGI Youth Training Session began at the Soka International Friendship Hall in Sendagaya, Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, with 250 from 60 countries.
