SGI-Cameroon Youth Start Afresh

Cameroon youth

On April 4, SGI-Cameroon members hosted a youth division general meeting in Kribi, a port city lying on the Gulf of Guinea coast, southern Cameroon. Some 800 members gathered from Yaounde, Cameroon's capital, Douala, Edea and Maroua. Since SGI-Cameroon was officially registered as a non-profit organization advancing culture and education in Cameroon in 2003, the organization has grown to five headquarters and 18 chapters. At the meeting, new youth leader appointments were announced: Youth Division Chief Jean Paul Kochere; Young Men's Division Chief Eric Keumo; and Young Women's Division Chief Flore Ewenza. Participants presented songs and dances to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Soka Gakkai youth division. SGI President Daisaku Ikeda sent a congratulatory message, in which he encouraged the youth to be the vanguard for creating a peaceful society in Cameroon. SGI-Cameroon General Director Claire Dikongue called on everyone to advance in unity, based on the spirit of "many in body and one in mind."
