Soka Gakkai Holds Monthly Leaders' Meeting for July 2005

On July 7, Soka Gakkai held its monthly leaders' meeting, in conjunction with the fifth Kansai General Meeting and the third Kansai Youth Division General Meeting, at the Tokyo Makiguchi Memorial Hall in Hachioji City, Tokyo. SGI President Daisaku Ikeda, Soka Gakkai President Akiya, other executive leaders, youth leaders, and representative SGI members from 18 overseas countries attended, including Switzerland, Brazil, Peru, Korea and Taiwan.

Mr. Akiya reported that all 23 New Komeito candidates, whom the Soka Gakkai endorsed, won seats in the recent July 3 Tokyo Metropolitan Assembly election. He expressed his appreciation for the members' dedicated support and asked those attending to progress in their daily lives, aiming for November 18, Soka Gakkai's 75th anniversary.

In his speech, Mr. Ikeda expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the efforts of SGI members throughout the world for establishing peace and happiness in their respective communities. He encouraged the youth to continue to develop themselves and lead victorious and happy lives, challenging to overcome any hardships. Mr. Ikeda reminded everyone to have utmost consideration for those who offer their homes for meetings, as well as extend courtesy to our neighbors. Mr. Ikeda closed his speech by expressing his hopes for all the members to be in good health and to advance with harmonious unity.
