SGI Members in Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guiana Hold Spring Training Courses; SGI-France Members in Corsica Meet
SGI-France supports overseas departments in Martinique, Guadeloupe, French Guiana, where SGI members are contributing to peace and happiness of their respective societies, based on the humanistic philosophy of Nichiren Buddhism. In March, SGI members in these regions gathered for a spring training course, respectively. In French Guiana, located in northern South America between Brazil and Suriname, some 100 SGI members gathered on March 19-23. Eight new members joined and participants studied basic tenets of Nichiren Buddhism and held discussion meetings.
Martinique and Guadeloupe are islands lying between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean. In Martinique, SGI members met on March 25-26 and studied portions of Nichiren's writings, together with SGI-France leaders. They also screened a video on SGI activities and SGI President Daisaku Ikeda's travels abroad. Guadeloupe is an archipelago of nine inhabited islands, including Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre. Some 200 members attended a training course on March 27-28 for study and a question and answer session on Buddhist philosophy.
On April 9, SGI-France members on Corsica Island gathered for a meeting and discussed themes of hope, unity and perseverance.
