BSG members

On the same day, Vice President Ikeda attended a Bharat Soka Gakkai (BSG) leaders' meeting commemorating May 3, at the Soka Bodhi Tree Garden, in a suburb of New Delhi. BSG Chair Gopinath Menon reported on the first "Award for Oneness of Mahavir and Mahatma" presented by the Times Foundation to the SGI President, along with eight other recipients. He also reported on BSG's membership growth to 25,000. Mr. Ikeda remarked that BSG's growth reflects Nichiren's writings in which he refers to the eastward transmission of Buddhism to Japan in the Former and Middle Days of the Law and its eventual return to its birthplace, the "land of the moon," India.
