SGI-Taiwan recently announced plans for a new headquarters building, to be built behind the current Taiwan Soka Association building on Zhi Shan Rd. in Shihlin District, Taipei, targeted for completion in 2007. Construction will commence in July 2005. The new center will have six stories above ground and three basement floors and comprise small and large prayer halls, an exhibition hall and small and large conference rooms. The third and fourth floors will house a large concert hall with a seating capacity of 460 and spiraling staircases on either side, which will be used for various cultural and performing arts functions. Complete with a rooftop garden, the new center is designed to be environmentally-friendly.
