SGI Representatives from 60 Countries Study Nichiren's Writings and Participate in Q&A with Soka Gakkai President

SGI members ask President Akiya questions

On March 4, the third day of the 2005 SGI Spring Training Session, the 250 participants from 60 countries attended a lecture by SGI Study Department Chief Katsuji Saito on "Reply to Kyo'o" (The Writings of Nichiren Daishonin, p. 412-413) at the Soka Friendship Hall in Sendagaya, Shibuya Ward, Tokyo. "Reply to Kyo'o" was Nichiren's reply to a woman believer who had written him for advice on how to pray about her child's illness. Following the study lecture, Soka Gakkai President Einosuke Akiya held a Q&A session. In response to a question about fostering leaders, he emphasized that when a leader first challenges his or her own growth, then fellow members will also freely develop their lives. He encouraged each person to "stand up alone," which will spark a drama of individual human revolution to unfold. He also said efforts to support and encourage members will inspire the members to take positive action.
