SGI-Europe Holds Third SGI-European Summit in Trets, France

SGI-European Summit participants discuss activities for 2005

SGI representatives from 27 European countries attended the third SGI-European Summit from January 6 through 9, at the SGI European Center in Trets, southern France. The gathering commemorated the SGI's 30th anniversary as well as the 30th anniversary of the SGI European Center. In a message he sent for the occasion, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda said a person of firm conviction and determination is able to achieve victory and success in life. Over 8,000 people officially joined the SGI throughout Europe in 2004. Representative members shared activity reports of their respective countries. Participants discussed plans for 2005 "Year of Youth and Development," such as: a student division summer training course; youth leaders' conference; and study sessions at the SGI European Center in Trets. SGI-Europe Chair Shoichi Hasegawa and SGI-Europe Women Chair Sakae Takahashi encouraged everyone to continue challenging to create a society pervaded by peace and happiness, towards 2010, Soka Gakkai's 80th anniversary.
