In MindanaoAt the SGI-Philippines Cagayan de Oro Center in Mindanao

Following a tropical storm that triggered flash floods in southern parts of the Philippines, SGI members in the country gathered in Manila on January 13 and in Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao, on January 15, to pray for the fast and safe recovery of affected areas and to mark a fresh new departure. In total, some 1,000 people attended.

In a message addressed to members, SGI President Daisaku Ikeda offered his most sincere condolences to those who have been affected by the large-scale floods, especially those who live in Cagayan de Oro. He encouraged them not to give up in the face of obstacles and to use difficulties as an opportunity to strengthen and develop courage and compassion.

At the meeting in Manila, Manuel Urrutia was appointed SGI-Philippines General Director and Dalisay Serrano was appointed Women's Leader.
