On January 1, SGI-Ghana members held New Year's prayer meetings throughout the country in their respective areas. Some 1,500 attended in total.
Mr. James Leslie Mayne Amissah, former ambassador of the Republic of Ghana to Japan, attended such a meeting held in Accra.
At this meeting, members studied about the mentor and disciple relationship embodied by the three presidents of the Soka Gakkai. In his talk, SGI-Ghana General Director Bobson M. Godonu encouraged participants to raise and nurture capable youth in their communities.
SGI members across Africa have also held meetings to celebrate the New Year, including a meeting in Bangui, Central African Republic.
