On January 27, some 160 SGI-Canada members and guests gathered to celebrate the Chinese New Year at SGI-Canada's Vancouver Culture Centre. Festivities began with the reading of a congratulatory message from SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and included a magic show, dance performances and a quiz about dragons, the Chinese zodiac sign for this year.

Chinese New Year was also celebrated on February 5 at the SGI-New Zealand Culture Center in Auckland, where some 500 people attended. Audience members enjoyed dances from a variety of cultures such as Japan and India, as well as traditional Chinese lion dances. People also renewed their determinations to do their human revolution--to become more compassionate, caring individuals--and to become model citizens who are trusted in their communities.
