On September 23 and 28, SGI-Canada (SGIC) members in Toronto, Vancouver and Halifax participated in a nationwide book and magazine festival titled The Word On The Street. They set up booths introducing SGI-related books and magazines, including some written by SGI President Daisaku Ikeda.

The annual festival has promoted literacy and appreciation of reading by providing a forum for the public to view the publications of book and magazine exhibitors from across Canada. Alongside major publishers, small presses, independent authors and writing associations also participate in the event, which attracts thousands of visitors.

This was the tenth time that SGIC has participated in the Toronto event, which was held at Queen's Park Circle on September 23. In Halifax, the festival also took place on September 23 on the Halifax waterfront, while the Vancouver event was held from September 28-30 at the city's Library Square.
