Soka International Women’s Center Hosts Seminar on Communicating with Children

Soka International Women's CenterLecture on the value of communication

On July 2, Shigeyo Kondo of the Soka Gakkai Education Department gave a talk on the value of communication in drawing forth children's potential at the Soka International Women's Center in Tokyo, Japan.

She spoke about how rather than judging children's growth, one should draw forth their inherent potential through heart-to-heart interaction.

The seminar was the 40th in a series of daytime "Cosmos" seminars focusing on topics related to peace, culture and education organized by the Women's Peace Culture Center and held throughout Japan.

Kayo Maeta, head of the Soka Gakkai Women's Peace Committee, and Akemi Tsukiji, Women's Peace Culture Center Chief, also spoke, and a chorus of women members from Chiba performed songs.

Previous Cosmos lectures have focused on topics related to a culture of peace, and maintaining health of mind and body. The July 2nd lecture was part of an ongoing series of talks on nurturing children's hearts that has covered issues such as psychological perspectives on children who refuse to go to school, domestic violence and ways of understanding and communicating with children.
