Taiwan Soka Association (TSA) sponsored its annual Soka Joy Summer Camp at Alishan Junior High and Elementary School in Chiayi, Taiwan, on July 28 and 29.

University students from throughout the country volunteered as camp counselors and organized a series of activities, which included athletic events, science workshops, theater, dance and games. A small mobile library also provided the young campers with an array of books to read.

TSA members in Chiayi supported the two-day event by providing transportation, first aid and meal preparation.

The Soka Joy Summer Camp, a TSA student initiative to enrich the education opportunities for children in underserved areas, began in 2000. To date, TSA has organized 80 Soka Joy Summer Camps for schools located on remote islands or in mountainous areas of Taiwan.
