SGI-Paraguay Receives Letter of Appreciation from Community Education Center

On May 13, 2010, SGI-Paraguay received a letter of appreciation from the General Patricio Escobar Community Education Center in Encarnación, Paraguay, for its contributions to promote peace education. The letter was presented during the official opening of SGI's exhibition "From a Culture of Violence to a Culture of Peace: Transforming the Human Spirit" (THS) at the General Patricio Escobar Center. Cristina Madrazo de Ojeda, general director of the center, presented the award to SGI-Paraguay General Director Kaoru Kurita, who accepted it on behalf of the SGI-Paraguay members. Ms. Madrazo remarked about the significance of the THS exhibition and its power to teach the real meaning of peace. She also shared her belief in the potential of SGI's activities to help foster world peace.

The exhibition was shown from May 10-13. More than 2,100 toured the exhibition, including Mirta Sotelo, director of the center, and Erika Kufeld de Cañete, acting governor of Itapua, Paraguay.
