On September 26, SGI-Canada participated in the 21st annual "Word On The Street" book and magazine festival in downtown Toronto. This national event was held in Toronto, Saskatoon, Vancouver, Halifax and Kitchener-Waterloo.
In Toronto, around 200,000 visited the event where over 250 local and national book and magazine publishers, booksellers, literacy and educational organizations, libraries and writers' associations participated. Eighteen programming tents and stages were also set up where visitors could enjoy listening to storytelling and various other presentations.

SGI-Canada members in Toronto have been participating in "Word On The Street" for the past nine years. In addition to introducing SGI books, members also provided introductory material about Nichiren Buddhism, specifically the pamphlet titled "The Power of One."
