Soka Gakkai Malaysia Conducts Educators' Seminar 2009
On May 30 and 31, 2009, Soka Gakkai Malaysia (SGM) members gathered at their culture center in Cheras for their annual educators' seminar, titled the "Spirit of Mentor-Disciple and Education."
SGM General Director Choo Kong Fei spoke about the mentor-disciple relationship as the prime point of Soka humanistic education. SGI President Daisaku Ikeda sent a message in which he stated that children are the hope of the world and that education and character development of youth is an undertaking of the highest priority for educators.
On May 31, Chew Chin Chong from Kuala Lumpur delivered a talk entitled "Challenges for Today's Educators" about the importance of humanistic education, followed by small group discussions. Mr. Chew stated, "Humanistic education is an undertaking of love, and educators should realize their mission in realizing the awakening of the human spirit, especially in our children."
