Soka Gakkai Education Department Publishes Booklet
Soka Gakkai Education Department has recently published a booklet, Heiwa no seiki e--kodomo no shiawase wo mezashite (Toward a century of peace--aiming for the happiness of children, tentative translation). This follows its first booklet Kagayaku kodomo to ningen kyoiku--kyoiku no tame no shakai e (Children and humanistic education--for building a society serving the essential needs of education), a summary of an exhibition organized by the Soka Gakkai educators.
The new booklet introduces nine case studies selected among over 30,000 reports from Soka Gakkai educators on their challenges and initiatives to practice humanistic education in the classroom. The booklet also includes a dialogue between Prof. Hiroshi Watanabe of Utsunomiya University, Tochigi, Japan, and Soka Gakkai Education Department Chief Hajime Miyamoto. The two discuss the importance of education in strengthening the power of dialogue needed to build a century of peace.
